Melbourne-based industrial electrical contractor Furst Electrical Services has secured a $1.6m contract to design and install the electrical control system for chemical giant Accensi’s new manufacturing facility in Lara, Geelong.

Accensi manufactures crop protection products for domestic and international agriculture operators.

Furst Electrical’s latest contract win comes with a high degree of complexity as the facility is zoned a hazardous area. “In design alone, there’s a month of work involved, and the system requires an intimate understanding of hazardous standards, machine standards, AS3000 standards, as well as process automation experience,” said co-owner Mark Furst. In total, the project involves fabrication of 11 multidoor control cabinets and installation of 38,000 metres of cable, 90 electric motors and 300 instruments.

Over recent years, Furst Electrical Services has built a market reputation as a specialist electrical contractor to the manufacturing sector, particularly the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging industries.

“Our core expertise is in industrial automation backed by reliable project delivery and professional business management,” said Lee Furst, business manager, Furst Electrical.

The brother-sister team, Mark and Lee Furst, combine more than 20 years of industrial electrical and business management experience. While Mark has expertise in process control and automation, Lee has accounting and project management experience.

“In this industry two tradesmen will typically form a business partnership, but our combined skill sets make us a formidable team. It provides our clients with a unique offering. They’re looking for technical expertise and the capacity to deliver a successful project. We bring both in spades,” said Lee.
