The ODU ROB robotic connectors are suitable for the application area of ‘robot technology’, ie, welding robots in the automotive industry.
The connectors are used in these applications as pluggable interfaces for connection lines from the voltage source to the welding transformer (primary circuit). Such a robot has a maximum of three such couplings and if a cable set becomes damaged that portion can be swiftly replaced.
Because the ROB is a high-capacity connector that can conduct high currents, it can also be used in all other high-current applications; for example, for generators in wind turbines, etc.
Even a layperson can assemble the ROB with just a few movements. The ODU is rated UL94-V0 - considering that welding robots cause sparks to fly and also that very high voltages are conducted, the flammability class can be important.
The connector has an O-ring between the two housing shell halves and so offers IP67. All ODU contacts can be processed with the MC crimping tools and the ODU 026 crimping tool can also be used.
The ground contact is the same contact as the others. Because of the insulator’s geometry, the ground contact always protrudes a few mm.
The ODU ROB is only longitudinally watertight if all contacts are allocated, so that it may be necessary to use blind plugs and pilot contacts.
Only a cable-cable connection is possible with the standard housing. Housing models are available for built-in use.
