Automated vehicles (AVs) have the potential to change the landscape across a number of industry sectors. An upcoming webinar from the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) will review international research in this area and its applicability to Australia. The webinar will also put forward a proposed pathway for understanding the economic impacts this change will deliver.

The session is presented by Brian Haratsis, founder and executive chairman at Macroplan Dimasi. Haratsis is an economist and strategic planner with experience across a number of sectors, including the provision of economic advice in relation to Plan Melbourne, the Darwin Region Plan and the Sydney Metropolitan Strategy. He recently published Destructive Cities, which highlights how rapid changes in technology (including the introduction of AVs), combined with the growth of the services sector, will forever change the way Australian cities function.

The NRSPP says that economic impacts, including jobs and investment, will be key drivers for public policy interest and private sector enthusiasm when it comes to the adoption of AVs in the shortest time horizon. Consensus on timing and take-up rates for AVs will underpin policy settings for infrastructure investment and regulatory frameworks.

If you are interested in finding out more, join the webinar on Tuesday, 29 November at 2 pm AEDT. For more information and to register, follow this link.
