The former chair of the Clean Energy Regulator has received the Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award from the Clean Energy Council (CEC).

CEC Chief Executive Kane Thornton said Munro has made a major and sustained contribution to the sector. Munro was the inaugural chair of the Clean Energy Regulator and concluded her five-year term in March this year.

Munro continues to be actively involved in the industry following her departure from the Clean Energy Regulator through her work on the panel of the Independent Review into the Future Security of the National Electricity Market.

Before joining the Clean Energy Regulator, Munro was chair of the National Water Commission, chair of AquaSure, the consortium building Victoria’s desalination plant, and a non-executive director of Hydro Tasmania.

She has held leadership positions in human resources, business operations, information technology, public policy and communications, and customer service. She served in the Victorian public sector from 1996 to 2004 in the positions of secretary of the Department of Primary Industries and secretary of the Department of National Resources and Environment.
